Aims
1. Undertake a sustained and intense period of work, combining all areas of studies to date, in the public performance of a substantial production.
2. Provide the student with a wide range of performing skills that are applicable to a variety of situations.
3. Expose the student to different collaborative processes, each relevant to the style of the project.
4. Explore strategies for sustained performance during rehearsal period and final event.
5. Develop a coherent performance / character within a ensemble performance context.
6. Provide the student with experience of working in a company environment and with sophisticated material that will challenge and enhance their technical and artistic skills.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Demonstrate capacity to work successfully as part of a performance ensemble and pro-duction team, recognising and applying appropriate professional level working practices.
2.
Demonstrate self-management skills and self-discipline in the completion of performance and production tasks.
3.
Engage productively with the creative process, undertake appropriate research and respond appropriately to the input of other student creatives and the creative team.
4.
Apply appropriately technical, creative and analytical skills as a performer in response to the vision of the director / choreographer and needs of the production.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module will include the rehearsal and performance of two performance projects either within an IAB theatre or elsewhere. The performance projects will be led by IAB full-time staff or external directors / choreographers.
These projects will represent the first opportunity to participate in a full-scale performance projects led by professionals and time will be spent with the students on exploring the pro-cess of developing a production from initial conception to full production.
The exact nature / choice of each performance project will be dependent on the needs and aspirations of each group as considered by the module leader.
In addition to performance roles students are also expected to contribute to technical and production role, applying the learning from level 4.
Additional Information:This module equips the students with a sustained and intense period of work with professional artists.
Assessment is via two public performances.
