Aims

The aim of this module is to challenge students to produce commercial-quality artefacts in their chosen specialisms in fulfilment of a live commercial brief.  It provides students with the opportunity to develop deeper industry-relevant specialist skills and to help define their professional direction.

Students will be required to produce a major creative digital artefact to a specialist brief.  Depending on the student’s chosen specialism, this could be a broadcast-ready TV programme, a music album, a photographic exhibition, etc.

Briefs will either be:

  • Developed by the student in conjunction with a relevant client, organisation or industry practitioner
  • A recognised national or international competition brief, set by employers or in conjunction with industry clients
  • Developed by the staff team in conjunction with industry practitioners, reflecting the needs and demands of industry and commercial clients

Students will be required to research and present possible project briefs to the staff team for approval. Throughout this process lecturers will assess each student’s work to ensure equivalent credit value across the student cohort for the module. This stage of negotiation is also a valuable source of formative feedback for the student.
