Aims
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the realities of funding a healthcare business, the constraints of public sector funding methods and timescales and to challenge of providing excellent services within a budget.
Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practices of budgeting and resource management
2.
Critically reflect upon your workplace role in relation to finance and resources
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of business planning for quality improvement in relation to your role and service
4.
Demonstrate an understanding of costings and critically apply this to the cost benefits analysis process.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The indicative module content includes:
• links between financial resources and service users
• importance of accurate record keeping in relation to finance/resource management
• interpreting costings - fixed, variable, direct, indirect and marginal
• budgeting and managing a budget
• payment by results/tariffs and links to service user information requirement
• cost benefit analysis.
