Aims

1. Develop an overview of contemporary performing arts creative business practice or, of a period from history. 2. Develop critical acumen in research, analysis, academic writing, and presentation skills.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an analytical understanding of a range of creative, business, and historical issues and practices in performing arts creative practice.
2.
Undertake and appropriately present independent, analytical, and guided research, analysis, and evaluation.
3.
Demonstrate developed coherent arguments through academic writing that is accurately informed and referenced.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The Module has three different aspects: 1. Academic Writing and Research. 2. Critical and Analytical Studies. 3. Contextual studies. Specifically, this module explores and examines historical, intellectual, and economic issues which have impacted and shaped the performing arts industry as it is found today. The module is common to all CPD programmes at the IAB. The students’ individual responses to the Learning Outcomes will be drawn from the frame of reference specific to their discipline of study. The assessment to be taken is dependent upon the semester of attendance.
Additional Information:This module equips students with skills in the areas of Academic Writing and Research; Critical and Analytical Studies; Contextual studies. Assessment is via one written submission.
