Aims

To examine operational aspects of supply chain management, elements of logistics, and the various freight transport modes, and to identify themes and issues in management of these.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts relating to transport and supply chain management.
2.
Design a logistics system for a particular application.
3.
Appraise the weaknesses and strengths of a logistics system.
4.
Prepare a complete transportation tender submission including cost calculation.
5.
Convincingly present a tender submission in front of a virtual client.

Tender Management Pre-Qualifications Analysis of Tender Documentation System Analysis and Proposal Development Key Performance Indicators and Service Levels Tender Cost Calculation Tender Presentation and Negotiation
Additional Information:Students learn about the managerial issues arising from interconnected supply chains. They study demand and requirements from industrial and trade companies, and the role of logistics service providers. The resulting transport operations based on different Supply Chain set-ups will be studied as well as the designing itself. During this topic - Tender Management - students work in groups to develop a logistics concept incl. cost calculation. The resulting concepts will be presented for assessment. The lecture is held by industry-specialists who share expert knowledge and latest developments.
