Aims

To provide a basis for basic elements of professional conduct and clinical legal education, and provide a basis for delivering the delivery of legal services with appropriate supervision and reflecting upon the experience.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Demonstrate skills in client interviewing, advocacy, case and matter analysis, legal research, drafting.
2.
Conduct a client interview in a clinical setting with appropriate supervision.
3.
Critically reflect on legal services undertaken in the context of a university law clinic.

Outline Syllabus:Interviewing Oral Communication Case and matter analysis Legal research Drafting Clinical legal education methodologies and processes Vulnerable clients Collaboration, teamwork and supervision Professional identity and legal ethics.
Additional Information:Module designed to provide practical legal knowledge. Students wishing to take 5507LAWSL Clinical Education 1 must have passed 4505LAWSL Law in Society.
