Aims

The aim of this module is to encourage students to develop their understanding of the nature and significance of Employability and Professional Development in relation to Sport Coaching. Students will consider and utilise formal and informal learning in Coach Education, develop their capacity to understand and use various strategies for Reflective Practice and develop their own Personal and Professional Practice. Students will also consider industry legislation, Sport policy and the structure of Sporting Governance.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Coach Education: Formal and Informal Coach Education methods; Peer Coach observations; Philosophy development Professional practice: CPD courses; Reflective practice e.g. Think Aloud, reflective journal, reflective blog, reflective – in action and reflection-on-action; Industry legislation; Sport Policy; Sporting Governance; Mentoring.
