Aims

• To develop a sound understanding of the foundations of Land Law, in terms of statute law, common law and equitable principles. • To develop the key transferable skills of identifying and understanding relevant legal sources, consolidating knowledge through synthesising these sources, logical analysis through applying this knowledge to problem and essay questions in Land Law.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a firm ability to locate, identify and understand the basic sources, principles and rules of Land Law.

Demonstrate an ability to use appropriate Land Law terminology

Demonstrate an ability to apply gained legal knowledge to complex problems in Land Law.

Outline Syllabus:• The fundamental principles of land law – LPA 1925, Land Registration Act 2002, estates in land. • Leases and licences • Mortgages • Trusts of land – co-ownership • Easements • Adverse Possession • Covenants • Registered and Unregistered land
