Aims
This unit aims to investigate energy management principles and techniques and to extend knowledge of heat and work transfer and enhance understanding of the motion of heat, fluids and its relevance to engineering. It will develop learners' understanding of the principles and laws of thermodynamics and thermo fluids and their application to engineering thermodynamic systems.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Appraise different types of energy sources, conversion technologies and recognize environmental impact of different energy sources
2.
Calculate basic parameters of energy conservation in mechanical/ Automotive systems
3.
Analyze a thermodynamic problem based on the principles of thermodynamics
4.
Analyze and evaluate a practical thermodynamics problem by the application of the concepts learned
