Aims

1.To provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the range of supervision models. 2.To provide students with the ability to work safely, ethically and legally as an independent practitioner 3.To enable students to respond and manage ethical dilemmas.

Additional Information:This module will provide students with knowledge and understanding of the need and value of supervision in developing and maintaining a safe, responsible and reflective practice. Course material will address the nature of the supervisory relationship, and enable students to consider the effectiveness of supervision in relation to their practice. The module aims to enable students to identify the type(s) of supervision they need to work ethically and effectively. Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the range of supervision models, contract with a supervisor and contracting. They will develop understanding of how supervision informs and improves practice. Students will develop knowledge of the key concepts of BACP ethical framework and working with difference and diversity. Students will explore ethical dilemma scenarios and develop knowledge of procedures and management of these in a professional manner. Through a 10-15 minute role play, students will demonstrate how to place boundaries, key elements of building a therapeutic relationship, incorporate the BACP ethical framework and its principles, values and morals when faced with an ethical dilemma with a client in a session.
