Aims
The module will provide an introduction to health studies and is designed to introduce theory, contemporary topics, and analytical techniques related to the study of health issues. An exploration of current issues and controversies in the promotion of individual and population health and the different constructions of health.
Learning Outcomes

Outline and discuss a range of theoretical approaches and their application within health studies.

Evaluate a variety of perspectives on health issues and their effect on the health of individuals and populations.
3.
Identify some of the core health issues and challenges that face contemporary society
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module considers the key topics in health studies including theories and concepts of health, principles and practice of health promotion, the sociology of health, inequalities of health, epidemiology and environmental health. These core areas will provide a foundation to build upon in levels five and six.
