Aims
To provide students with a practical introduction to architectural technology including the preparation and presentation of scaled architectural drawings based on a residential design.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Identify and explain the range and purpose of different architectural drawings for building projects used in practice.
2.
Develop a residential design according to a given brief and produce architectural
drawings using manual draughting techniques.
3.
Present and discuss architectural drawings for a residential design via a verbal presentation.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Introduction to the discipline of Architectural Technology and the role of the architectural technologist
Introduction to architectural scaled drawings and drawing standards
Precedent studies and concept design
Production of a portfolio of 2D working drawings including floor plans, elevations and sections
Introduction to 3D drawings such as axonometric drawings
Presentations and critical reviews; oral presentation skills
