Module Overview:
This programme is specifically designed to meet the requirements set by the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal (JAG) Endoscopy Training System Workforce programme (JETSW). The overall aim of the level 4 Continued Professional Development Endoscopy Practice module is to support the continued professional development of Health Care Assistants (HCA) to work safely and effectively within an endoscopy environment.
The module will offer a blended learning opportunity. There will be face-to-face teaching, simulated learning activities within the endoscopy suite at LJMU, and virtual classroom experiences via Teams. This will provide a student with a foundation to challenge their theoretical knowledge and understanding and develop an evidence based to their practice. The HCA will return to their practice settings to develop their skills and competence within their own clinical settings, and to reflect upon their own self development.
The module assessments comprise completion of ENDO1 which is the competency component of the JETSW, and a reflective essay. The module will prepare students for academic learning and self-reflection, through online learning, research awareness and study skills practice.
The students will have access to Canvas and the University's range of other electronic support such as access to the electronic library facilities and academic achievement resources. The Programme Leader will provide academic student support via a range of mechanisms including, e-mail, classroom contact, lectures, tutorials, Canvas and personal tutorials for pastoral support as appropriate. The Canvas site will signpost students to the wider range of available support.
