Aims
This module aims to introduce and develop the principles of professional practice and supports the student on how to achieve the NMC proficiencies for Registered Nurses within the practice learning environment. There will also be a focus on the theory that underpins the Nursing procedures in Annexe B of the NMC standards of Proficiency..

Module Overview:
This module will introduce and develop the principles professional practice and introduce the scope of competencies for the role of the nurse, guided by the NMC Standards of Proficiency for the Registered Nurse. This module will run alongside your practice placements and will introduce the skills required for nursing practice, enabling you to engage with care of individuals across different health and care settings.

This module will run alongside your practice placements and will introduce the skills required for nursing practice, enabling you to engage with care of individuals across different health and care settings.
Additional Information:
Students must complete a minimum of 85% of the practice hours allocated for that year at the submission point in order to successfully pass this module.
The module is pass/fail and a mark of 0% or 100% will be recorded against the module assessment.

S5: Safely demonstrate evidence-based practice in all skills and procedures required for entry to the register
B1: Treat people with dignity, respecting individual's diversity, beliefs, culture, needs, values, privacy and preferences
B2: Show respect and empathy for those you work with, have the courage to challenge areas of concern and work to evidence based best practice
B3: Be adaptable, reliable and consistent, show discretion, resilience and self-awareness and demonstrate leadership
