Outline Syllabus:
Students will be introduced to the fundamental practical skills needed to engage in modern film production practice. They will work practically with cameras, lighting, and sound to build a set of essential skills in filmmaking. Students will also explore the theoretical principles underpinning many of the technical and craft processes involved in modern digital filmmaking, reflecting on how historical developments have informed current practice.

Through a series of lectures and practical workshops students will be introduced to fundamental film production skills using cameras, lenses, lighting and sound equipment. Students will develop an understanding of how historical developments in film craft inform current film productions and explore current trends and best practice in digital filmmaking.

This module provides a framework for students to acquire a range of fundamental filmmaking skills, which are supported by a sound understanding of historical and theoretical principles.
