Aims

This module enables you to develop the knowledge and understanding of the legal frameworks for the delivery of care, how they apply to you and how they support the most vulnerable in society. It will explore inclusivity and diversity and your responsibility as a health professional.  

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a good understanding of equality and diversity.
2.
Define capacity and identify appropriate assessments for when capacity has changed.
3.
Outline the principles of health and safety legislations in relation to safe work and care environments
4.
Examine and apply relevant legal and ethical frameworks to practice

Legal and ethical frameworks and policies (NMC 1.2)

Challenging discriminatory behaviour (NMC 1.4)

Non-discriminatory, person-centred care (NMC 1.11)

Decision making and mental capacity (NMC 3.22) 

Safeguarding (NMC 3.24)

Health and safety legislation (NMC 5.1)

(mapped to NMC standards of proficiency for registered nursing associates)
