Aims
To develop an understanding of the fundamentals of the science and practice of pharmacy and its integrative nature
Learning Outcomes
1.
Explain the role of the pharmacist and their professional, ethical and legal responsibility to ensure the safe supply of medicines to the public.
2.
Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental scientific principles of health and disease in relation to developing, supplying and using medicines.
3.
Demonstrate appropriate skills, behaviours and attitudes that enable healthcare professionals to deliver a quality healthcare service.
4.
Explain the therapeutic significance of drug chemistry and formulation
5.
Describe health and wellbeing, the underlying factors contributing to health and disease and the application of the behavioural sciences to the healthcare environment.

During semester 1, your studies will focus on the scientific foundation of pharmacy, while incorporating aspects of practice where possible, and includes topics such as:

Additional Information:This module forms the first year of the integrated masters in Pharmacy.
There is a requirement (agreed variance from the Academic Framework) that all assessment components must be passed at the module pass mark or higher for the module to be passed. No credit will be released unless all competencies (C1-C6) are achieved.
