Aims
To develop core laboratory skills and analytical techniques in life sciences and chemistry, focusing on experimental conduct, data interpretation, and scientific reporting.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Apply various data analysis techniques and interpret experimental data effectively in scientific contexts.
2.
Conduct laboratory experiments safely and accurately, and produce detailed log reports documenting experimental processes and outcomes.
3.
Develop and demonstrate research skills, including literature review, hypothesis formulation, and methodological design.
4.
Create a comprehensive, well-researched lab report, integrating experimental data with scientific literature to draw informed conclusions.

- Data Generation and Collection: Techniques for generating reliable data, including experimental design and execution.
- Statistical Analysis in Science: Introduction to statistical methods for analysing experimental data.
- Laboratory Logbook Keeping: Best practices for maintaining detailed and accurate lab logbooks.
- Data Interpretation: Techniques for interpreting experimental data, understanding error analysis, and drawing valid conclusions.
