Aims

To introduce texts from different genres and chronological periods and their adaptations. To introduce a number of theoretical perspectives appropriate to the texts considered, including theories of adaptation. To consolidate and develop close-reading skills.

Learning Outcomes

Understand basic theories of adaptation and form.

Be able to communicate ideas about the adaptation of specific texts verbally and in writing

Reflect critically on own learning and close-reading skills

This module aims to develop your understanding of inter-textuality and of the significance of adaptation to literary publications across a range of forms and genres.
