Aims
Advance the intellectual development of students through the application of rigorous analysis to approach issues related to the taught part of the course.
Promote in-depth knowledge of particular topics within the range of subjects taught.
Encourage, through the writing of the dissertation, a range of transferable subject-specific and core skills that will be of value to students in future research and in their professional careers in industry.

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:There is no specific syllabus; however, the following items should be addressed during the programme of study:
Selection of project and rationale for choice: identification of project objectives and programme, planning and scheduling of project tasks, relationship with previous research in subject area.
Project progress: adherence to schedule liaison with nominated supervisors.
Presentation: preparation and submission of a bound dissertation of approximately 15,000 words.
Additional Information:This module accounts for 60 credits out of a full MSc programme of 180 credits.
A substantial dissertation is written and submitted for examination.
