Aims

This module looks to provide a grounding of the regulatory framework of the multilateral trading system. The module will cover the World Trade Organisation including the institutional and substantive law. The module will investigate the core disciplines relating to international trade in goods and services and market access rules. It will also provide critical examination of trade disputes and the WHO system that looks to resolve the disputes.

Learning Outcomes

Critically examine the WTO institutional structure and the roles played by the WTO bodies

Scrutinise WTO rules, amendments and interpretations
3.
Critically appraise WTO dispute resolution methods in comparison to other dispute resolution methods
4.
Evaluate complex case studies and the effectiveness of trading on WTO terms

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:By completing this module, students are expected to cover the indicative content as follows: a. Sources WTO law b. Relationship of WTO Law in International and Domestic Law c. Tariffs and non-tariff barriers d. Free trade and non-trade e. Dispute Resolution
