Aims
This module introduces students to key theoretical concepts and risk management processes and practices. Students will critically explore the role that these play in building organisational and project resilience. It will provide students with a thorough understanding of current thinking on risk management strategy, culture, and operations, while considering cutting edge risk issues.
Learning Outcomes

Identify and critically assess the key theoretical concepts of risk and introduce risk management processes and practices.
2.
Evaluate the range of organisational and project related risks.
3.
Understand the approach to risk management through risk identification, risk analysis and risk response (or mitigation).
4.
Develop and apply viable risk contingency plans for projects.

Outline Syllabus:Introduction to risk
Risk and organisations (risk appetite, risk and incentives, internal controls, organisational failure)
Risk and projects (risk perceptions, risk strategy, risk aversion)
Risk analysis (qualitative and quantitative)
Risk response and contingency management
Risk vs issue management
Additional Information:The module develops students' knowledge and skills within the context of risk management in projects.
