Aims

1. To investigate the nature of journalistic skills and requirements. 2. To consider, through reflecting on newsroom or freelance routines, how professional issues shape journalistic output 3. To investigate the effects of political, social and economic factors on journalistic output through reflections on personal output. 4. To identify and analyse the effects of changing technology on journalistic output and the journalism industry.

Outline Syllabus:Journalism's purpose; journalistic professionalism and routines; external influences on the journalistic output; evaluating your own work and the work of others; reflecting on professional practice.
Additional Information:This module is designed to allow working journalists, or those with considerable journalism experience, to reflect on the production of their own journalism and the factors through which it is influenced.
