Aims

The aim of this module is to analyse the role of evaluation in service delivery within health care settings to develop organisation wide changes which are coherent and internally consistent.

Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse the role of evaluation in service delivery within health care settings
2.
Critically evaluate the current performance measures in place within the health care settings
3.
Critically evaluate models of quality improvement and consumer orientated definitions of quality
4.
Critically analyse theories of evaluation and how this is applied to work place contexts.
5.
Critically evaluate social, political and economic theory and policy to develop quality improvement initiatives.

Outline Syllabus:Research and Evaluation Basics and Design Service User reviews and Planning Complaints Theories of evaluation Evaluation frameworks Models of quality Consumer orientated definitions of quality Quality initiatives within health care Social, political and economic theory which impact upon quality Qualitative and quantitative measures in evaluation The role of statutory, professional and sector regulatory bodies in assuring and enhancing quality. Risk assessment frameworks. Service user inclusion in quality processes.
Additional Information:Students will critically analyse the evidence base for evaluation in service delivery within health care settings, as well as current performance measures in place. Risk assessment frameworks will also be scrutinised to consider process effectiveness and quality outcomes.
