Aims

The aim of the module is to provide an opportunity for the proposal and completion of a research dissertation.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Propose and defend a research project which impacts upon professional and career objectives.
2.
Critically evaluate your own professional practice within the context of the work of other relevant practitioners and current industry practice.
3.
Devise a sophisticated research methodology.
4.
Gather and critically interpret evidence.
5.
Present sophisticated arguments in support of your research and reach complex conclusions.
6.
Debate complex arguments regarding the forms and associated economies in the performing arts with reference to personal practice.
7.
Utilise theory in depth to argue for distinct approaches to practice.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The module will consider an element of current industry practice and investigate its relationship to the individual practices of the students. A range of practice research and other research methodologies will be considered and the design of research will be investigated before student propose approaches to a dissertation. The module will then be concerned with completion of the dissertation under supervision.
