Aims

To introduce students to postgraduate level methodological and theoretical approaches to researching international relations. To provide students with the opportunity to critically appraise methodological and theoretical approaches to researching international relations. To provide students with the skills required to undertake a research project at postgraduate level.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a critical understanding of methodologies and theoretical approaches relevant to international relations.
2.
Critically evaluate and identify appropriate resources in order to undertake research in international relations.
3.
Critically plan and implement research tasks and communicate an understanding of the research process.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Subjects covered may include but are not limited to: advanced oral and written presentation skills; archival research; online research, including historical and legal databases; oral history / interview techniques; research ethics; developing a research question; structuring a research project.
Additional Information:This module prepares students with a thorough understanding of the key skills required in order to develop and carry-out a research-based project or dissertation in the subject of international relations.
