Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to undertake a substantial piece of sustained enquiry through practice and traditional academic research. The exact nature of the work undertaken and subsequently submitted will be contained in a Negotiated Learning Agreement (NLA). By way of non-exclusive illustration, students may propose to, for example:
● Write a full stage play or screenplay
● Produce and direct or choreograph their own production (with fellow students or external performers / artists)
● Undertake one or more performance roles (directed/choreographed by fellow students or external professional collaborators);
● Create or experiment with leading creative explorations, rehearsing and/or creative methodology and process in specific workshops supervised and facilitated by the student.
● Submit a written dissertation of 15,000 words or the approved equivalent word count to represent the same volume of work as described in AS1 and AS2.
Additional Information:All the students will receive an Essay and Academic Writing Hand out. The IAB will provide
rehearsal/production space according to the overall timetable of the academic year. The use of external performers is allowed, providing that the students take the supervising role in the development and delivery of the project.
In case of practices involving disabilities (both mental and physical) and working with, e.g., refugees, children and other vulnerable adults, students must comply with the LJMU Ethics Policy and must have an external advisor who has expertise in the specific field.
In specific cases, students may use a hosting institution (e.g., hospital, specialised association, foundation etc.) that can advise on the project.
Assessment is via practice (AS1) and written work (AS2).
