To provide a critical understanding of the academic research process understanding the differing techniques, strategies and methods used to undertake research in the built environment.

Outline Syllabus:Overview of the research process focusing on research design and strategy. Formulation of a research question and specific area of study. Information sources and the purpose, nature and scope of literature reviewing. Data collection techniques used in quantitative and qualitative research. Process of data validation, inputting, and analysis. Interpretation, discussion and conclusions of research findings.

Additional Information:The module develops students' critical understanding of the research process as well as skills in research design, implementation and presentation in terms of the preparation and production of a post-graduate research study.
