Aims
To develop knowledge and understanding of the legal and professional environment within which surveying practitioners operate. To develop a critical appreciation of legal principles governing ownership and occupation of land and property.
Learning Outcomes

Identify and critically evaluate legal material and information from a range of robust sources in order to provide a reasoned and professional view on topics studied.

Critically explore the role of professionalism within surveying practice.

Critically analyse legal issues related to land and property scenario problems and apply relevant legal principles in order to provide justified recommendations.

Additional Information:This module introduces students to the fundamental legal principles that underpin surveying practice.
The module develops students’ knowledge and understanding of legal studies to enable the student to evaluate the application of the common law and statutory framework as it applies to land and property ownership and occupation.
Provide opportunities for students to critically explore the application of legal principles to scenario problems relevant to the surveying profession.
