Aims

To develop a strategic appreciation and critical application of sustainable and inclusive design for the refurbishment of commercial buildings aligned with regulatory and client requirements.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Critically review methods, theories and techniques of value management, in the context of building design and refurbishment.
2.
Critically review building design and refurbishment in the context of legislative compliance with particular consideration given to equality, diversity and inclusion.
3.
Critically evaluate the strategic direction of clients in order to develop and propose innovative and sustainable design proposals and projects.
4.
Utilise and apply industry standard software in order to optimise the design management process.

Outline Syllabus:Value management Design management process, principles and documentation Building design & refurbishment for equality, diversity and inclusion Climate change, sustainable goals and building refurbishment CDM Regulations Building specification and sustainable materials to enhance building performance RIBA plan of work; Concept and detailed designs Corporate strategy; feasibility study and analysis BIM and design management Application of Revit
Module Overview:
This module aims to develop a strategic appreciation and critical application of sustainable and inclusive design for the refurbishment of commercial buildings aligned with regulatory and client requirements.
Additional Information:This module develops student's ability to appreciate the importance developing and proposing sustainable building design and refurbishment projects in accordance with equality, diversity and inclusivity goals and the strategic direction of clients and commercial business.
