Aims

Develop a research proposal to investigate an identified area of interest. Complete relevant research-based investigation of a defined area that has relevance to their professional practice.

Learning Outcomes

In relation to area of professional inquiry critically review theoretical perspectives, policy and research evidence from the literature
2.
Consider and manage issues of research ethics and power in accordance with university and educational research ethical guidelines
3.
Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of a range of methodologies and research methods
4.
Apply skills of critical evaluation, analysis and synthesis to data to formulate a creative response to the specified research questions and consider the implications of the research for professional practice

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Individually negotiated, but participants are encouraged to engage with appropriate research events to be selected from E-Learning support, action learning set or faculty research events.
Module Overview:
This module is the generic Masters element of the MA programme and is a core activity. It provides an opportunity to carry out research projects of relevance to your professional practice and professional development needs, largely independently but with regular individual support from an assigned Supervisor. It enables you to:
  • develop a research proposal to investigate an identified area of interest
  • complete relevant research-based investigation of a defined area that has relevance to your professional practice
Additional Information:This module is the generic Masters element of the MA programme and is a core activity for all participants intending to complete the degree. It provides an opportunity to carry out research projects of relevance to the student's professional practice and professional development needs, largely independently but with regular individual support from an assigned supervisor.
