Aims

The aim of this module is to develop trainees' understanding of subject and general pedagogies, and to competent and knowledgeable teachers with an understanding of learning, teaching and assessment.

Analyse learning, teaching and assessment in the context of contemporary education

Evaluate the impact of pedagogic and didactic approaches in the appropriate subject(s) and phase(s) of education

Critically reflect on education theory, policy and practice in relation to the inclusive classroom

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Models of reflection, including Brookfield’s Lenses Curriculum models and delivery (KS1 and KS2), early mathematics, reading and writing, classroom management (inc. behaviour), teaching methods, etc. Pedagogical approaches to teaching of core and foundation subjects, including teacher explanations and modelling, questioning and dialogue, group work and independent learning Evidencing Impact on Learners, including stretch and challenge, etc. Assessment and recording (KS1 and KS2), including formative and summative assessment and progress, etc.
