Aims

To provide knowledge and understanding on the physical basis of climate change as well as an advanced introduction to climate change impacts and social and political responses.

Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate knowledge and understand of the physical basis of climate change.

Critically evaluate knowledge and understanding of social and political impacts of climate change.

Critically evaluate the political responses to the climate change problem.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Physical basis of climate change. Advanced introduction to climate change impacts (atmosphere, ocean, terrestrial, biosphere). Climate models. Social and political aspects of climate change: UK, Europe and beyond. Concepts of mitigation, adaptation and sustainability.
Module Overview:
This module provides information on the physical basis of climate change, as well as an introduction to climate change impacts (atmosphere, ocean, terrestrial, biosphere) and social and political responses, including the concepts of mitigation, adaptation and sustainability.
Additional Information:This module will provide critical understanding of climate change from a human and physical perspective which will be needed throughout the degree.
