Aims
1. To produce a researched documentary artefact based on original in-depth research on a media platform of choice, demonstrating an understanding of ethical practices and an ability to critically analyse and evaluate the production process and completed artefact
2. To demonstrate understanding and skilful manipulation of story and narrative arc.
3. To demonstrate technical competencies in all practical aspects of production.

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
With tutorial support students will produce a documentary based upon in-depth original research on a media platform negotiated with teaching staff. A reflective commentary will detail the intellectual effort and perspective involved to demonstrate in-depth understanding of the whole production process, review the research methods and ethical practice employed and critically evaluate the completed artefact within the context of contemporary documentary production.

Module Overview:
This module is designed to allow students to demonstrate mastery of storytelling within their chosen subject area, by the production of a documentary on a media platform of their choice, which they have driven and managed, including all relevant research. This constitutes their final masters project. An accompanying written reflective commentary is designed to demonstrate advanced skills in critical thinking

The documentary artefact will be analysed in a 3000 word reflective commentary, to demonstrate advanced skills in critical thinking, commensurate with masters study. This forms the written element to the award.
