Aims
Consolidate students engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support their development as an independent practitioner
Learning Outcomes

Practice independently with minimal supervision to achieve proficiencies associated with NMC Professional Values

Lead and coordinate care

Consolidate knowledge, skills and competence in relation to safe administration of medicine

Conduct nursing care to the required NMC standards of a registered practitioner.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:CPAP/BIPAP, airway management, acute and chronic renal failure, complex patient assessment, neurological assessment, abdominal assessment, shock (all forms), Hypertension, Dementia/stroke. Pneumonia/chest infections, Liver/diagnostics. BLS,
central lines/PICC line management Advanced COPD and spirometry sepsis, blood gases
Oxygen saturations IV devices
Assessment of deteriorating patient-physical and mental health
DKA and HHA
Advanced respiratory assessment. 3 lead ECG's
Tracheostomy care.
Initiation of life-preserving immediate measures and to carry out measures in crises and disaster situations;
Care of the dying patient
Team leadership strategies including prioritisation, delegation and assignment of duties for patient care
Pharmacology in acute care
The code and challenging difficult situations
Psychological care of the acutely unwell patient.
conflict management
Care, compassion and accountability.
Introduction to clinical examination and diagnostics
Additional Information:The Academic Assessor will monitor that the student is completing their hours. This includes any practice placement learning and simulated practice learning, in accordance with the students programme plan.
