Aims
The module aims to develop student skills to research a real-life workplace problems. Students will learn the whole research process through participating in workshops and conducting online exercises.
Students will work on a real research problem that will develop their skills in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative research projects. In addition, the module aims to prepare students for the following module – Business Research in People Management and Practice Part Two – Literature Review & Professional Inquiry, by enabling them to independently conduct a research project utilising quantitative and qualitative.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically analyse research method philosophical approaches and data collection methods.
2.
Work on a real research problem, define a research question based on the problems, and design a research plan to examine the problem
3.
Prepare an individual, appropriately presented and coherent research proposal (which will require the production of accurate research objectives, a research strategy and appropriate methodology)

Module Overview:
This module will involve you applying research philosophical approaches to a real-life workplace challenge. You will learn the whole research process through participating in workshops and conducting online exercises, working on a real research problem that will develop your skills in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative research methods. The module will support your development of competencies in effective methodological approaches, decision-making, and designing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method research and ethical research practice. It provides you with the core skills and knowledge in readiness to undertake research in a chosen area of interest.
