Aims
This module will provide students with the knowledge and skills to engage with research as a consumer, user, and investigator. The module will provide opportunities for students to:
• extend their knowledge and understanding of practitioner research;
• select research methodologies and methods appropriate to the nature of an enquiry;
• critique research approaches in relation to the application in educational settings;
• analyse data using a variety of techniques and frameworks;
• design, plan and construct a small-scale educational research project;
• measure the impact of educational interventions;

• the nature of practitioner enquiry;
• ethical issues in researching professional practice;
• research paradigms in educational research;
• research methodologies and the types, benefits, and limitations of data;
• selecting appropriate methods to answer research questions;
• the use of literature and other evidence to inform research;
• analysing quantitative and qualitative data;
• measuring and evaluating impact in education;
• validity, reliability, and generalisability in research;
• reporting and disseminating research.
