Learning Outcomes

1.
Contribute to the research community within the School through participation in research group activities i.e. meetings, presentations, journal club and writing retreats
2.
Execute research that contributes to the research ethos and aims of the School and wider university i.e. that advances scientific and/or clinical knowledge of the field
3.
Analyse and disseminate research findings in an appropriate manner commensurate with that expected of a student completing an MRes programme

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Application of Research is the final module serving as the research module where students will complete their research project answering unmet real-world questions within the remit of the research themes of PBS. It accounts for the largest proportion of credits reflecting the nature of the programme. Depending on the research theme selected projects may be wet (typically scientific based) or dry (likely clinical pharmacy based projects). Students will select their theme of interest at the point of application, titles within themes will be advertised at induction, and then projects and supervisors assigned within preferred themes.

Project supervisors will be an academic within PBS plus a second supervisor/ advisor from LJMU/ external partner depending on the project. Project supervisors may be involved in 7001PBSRES and 7002PBSRES or not depending on the project. Students will also have a personal tutor separate from their academic supervisor.
Module Overview:
On this module you will design and deliver your progressive research within your key research theme for the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences.
Additional Information:
Student support mechanisms in terms of personal tutor/ university support services will apply. In terms of project specific support this will be provided by the project supervisor on an ad hoc as needed basis. Regular meetings are scheduled in the proposed timetable to ensure that supervisor student meetings take place. The MRes team will listen to, pose questions and provide formative feedback to the cohort during research meetings and journal clubs. Peer feedback and support will also be provided during these sessions.  The supervisor will disseminate formative feedback on a progress research report at the beginning of Semester 2, and the final summative project report at the end of the programme.
