Aims

This module aims to develop and enhance students' knowledge about research methods, developing a research project, analysis and presentation of findings.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Explore, critically evaluate, and report on appropriate scientific literature relevant to a research project
2.
Provide sound rationale and justification for conducting a research project with proposed robust methodology and analytical techniques to enable project fruition
3.
Effectively interpret and communicate scientific research to a specialist and non-specialist audience

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Students will complete virtual (asynchronous and synchronous) applied lectures where they will have the opportunity to learn about and apply skills required to design and suitably analyse their research projects and findings. The syllabus covers the following topics delivered over 12 weeks:

Ethical screening and application, literature searching and referencing, Good clinical practice training, qualitative and quantitative methods, presentation of findings, statistical analysis, writing scientific business reports, and measuring research impact.
