Aims

1. Professional levels of skill, knowledge, professional etiquette and career development expertise to appropriately plan and enter the next phase of their career post training.
 2. Opportunities for the development of appropriate self-promotional material. 
 3. Opportunities for the selection and development of appropriate audition materials, or, opportunities to engage with simulated real life audition scenarios. 
 4. Opportunities for the development of a considered and realistic personal development and career plan.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Produce from a synthesis of knowledge learnt and critical evaluation of self, a detailed and specialist understanding of the employment opportunities available to them in his/her chosen field.
2.
Demonstrate the ability to select and produce appropriate audition material OR fully participate in a given number of simulated audition scenarios.
3.
Produce a comprehensive, considered and realistic personal development and career plan.
4.
Demonstrate throughout the learning activities of the module an appropriate professional work ethic.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Audition Material and Preparation Students will develop and refine the practical skills in the preparation for, and the execution of professional auditions. This will include developing a knowledge of professional etiquette and (where appropriate) the selection of suitable audition material. Promotional Material Students will be guided in the development of self-promotional material, including head and body shots, business cards, CV and other materials for a professional portfolio. The CV will be submitted as part of Assessment 1 Career Plan. Business and Career Planning Building on from their previous studies at level 4 and 5 students will follow a short lecture programme exploring: Employment patterns Agents, Casings, Auditions, Interviews Contracts Taxation - Self-employment/Employment Working internationally Self-management and personal development - managing your career
Additional Information:The module provides the student with advanced knowledge of career and professional development skills as well as preparing them to showcase those skills to industry professionals. As a shared module across three programmes Learning Outcome 2 and Assessment 2 provide for preparation and experience of the different professional audition expectations for Acting and Musical Theatre and Dance.
