Aims
The aim of this module is to provide the student with:
1. The ability to apply more advanced technical dance skills required for a career in musical theatre;
2. The ability to demonstrate the various styles of dance required for a career in musical theatre;
3. The continued development of dance technique in a range of styles, and practise at picking up new choreography;
4. The opportunity to continue to develop a personal approach to performing in musical theatre.
Learning Outcomes

Evidence the ability to evaluate and reconstitute new musical theatre choreography in a simulated professional environment.

Synthesise advanced level technical skills in Jazz technique.

Synthesise and apply professional musical theatre performance qualities and skills.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:In this module, the students will further develop their study of the styles of dance most relevant to a career in modern musical theatre. Students will attend classes in musical theatre jazz and musical theatre repertoire (dance), and will experience classes in other supporting dance styles as relevant to a career in musical theatre. The core work of the module is to further develop technical dance skills, improve pick up speed and refine and polish performance technique in terms of accuracy, attack, finesse and coordination. There will be, throughout, a strong focus on performance style and presentation skills. Students will be exposed to new choreography to improve pick up skills, as well as strong technical skills in jazz dance.
