Module Content
Outline Syllabus:This module presents a continuation and development of the working pressures, challenges and demands examined in Production I, with the actor’s autonomy, professional aptitude and Independent Methodology further tested through self-governed responsibility and inter-personal engagement with collaborators, material and self-promotion in order to interact with the industry.
You will undergo a production process, from the receipt of casting breakdowns for the new Season of plays (cast upon merit and suitability for the role, see Fair Casting Policy), collaborating with the director and creative team in the creation of an original, staged production. You are expected to consider your performance as a ‘whole’; from casting, to rehearsal process, performance and professional-profiling.
In this module, autonomy and responsibility for all aspect of the production process falls on the actor, with the highest weighted assessment placed on performance. Simulating industry scenarios, professional press and critics are invited to attend the public performances.
Following the production, you are expected to analyse and assess your application of research process, professionalism and overall performance techniques in an evaluative Viva.
Students may substitute this production with professional activities provided they are deemed to be of equivalence, and that students are able to meet learning outcomes. In such cases, an appointed mentor will liaise with external companies or agencies to oversee parity of assessment.
