Aims

The aims of this module are to: 1. Acquire professional levels of skill, knowledge, professional etiquette and career development expertise to appropriately plan and enter the professional industry. 2. Encourage the selection and development of appropriate audition materials, or, opportunities to engage with simulated real life audition scenarios. 3. Provide the student with greater understanding of the industry and tools that will assist in sustaining a professional career.

Learning Outcomes

Research and compile a concise and sustainable career and business plan for the musical theatre industry.

Reflect on strengths, weaknesses, challenges and career goals as a performer.
3.
Portray professional etiquette and industry-ready preparation and presentation skills for auditions and interviews.
4.
Select and produce appropriate audition material and fully participate in any given number of simulated audition scenarios.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will develop and refine practical skills in the preparation for, and the execution of professional auditions. This will include developing a knowledge of professional etiquette and (where appropriate) the selection of suitable audition material. Building from previous studies at Level 5, students will follow a short lecture programme exploring: • Employment patterns • Agents, Castings, Auditions • Portfolio Career Exploration • Interviews • Contracts • Taxation • Self-employment • Self-management and personal development
Additional Information:This module equips students with sustainable skills to maintain a professional career in the performing arts. Assessment is via live practical assessment and portfolio submission.
