Module Content

Outline Syllabus:This module comprises the following strands. Devised Physical Piece - The students will create, shape and perform a substantial piece of physical theatre. This will allow them to further develop their knowledge of body aware-ness, articulation, isolation, space awareness, rhythm, causalities of dramatic actions, movement precision and expressivity. The work will help them to define pre-professional skills in how to be creative, make artistic and dramatic choices and work as an ensemble. The composition and direction of the piece is student led to give them the added perspective of how their individual work fits into the piece as a whole. This piece will be performed in front of a public audience. Making New Theatre – Through a series of encounters and workshops, the students will be introduced to a range of contemporary storytelling forms, including some of the following: immersive, site responsive, audience led, one-to-one theatre, VR, AR, transmedia performance. The students will then use this experience in the final production of the Public Performances module, as they lead in the creation of a piece using contemporary storytelling forms.
Additional Information:The module builds on skills learned in levels 4 and 5 by allowing students to create a substantial piece of physical theatre. The students will also be introduced to a variety of contemporary storytelling forms. The module is assessed by a devised physical piece of theatre.
