Aims

To explore the biological and psychological approaches to mental illness, and the diagnostic process.

To continue professional development and enhance knowledge, and skills in Psychology, Pathology within Mental illnesses which can be applied to real world contexts and working with clients.

To enhance methods and assessments that facilitates employability skills, Client work, referral processes, problem-solving and communication.

It aligns with the aims and ethical considerations of  the BACP framework  .

Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate the process from diagnosis to treatment of a particular mental health illness

Present key symptoms and best working practice of a particular mental health illness

Critically discuss the ethical considerations when using mental health diagnostic tools and processes
