Aims

To enable students to measure and evaluate the impact of their actions. The module will encourage the collation of evidence to measure the impact of policing interventions. The module will see students interpreting the evaluation and choosing the appropriate policy and tactical recommendations that the evidence assessment identifies.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Choose the appropriate data and qualitative evidence collection techniques to demonstrate the impact of the policing intervention.
2.
Select, gather and interpret the information and data collected to facilitate the effective measurement of the value of all aspects of the policing intervention against the stated aims.
3.
Critically evaluate all inputs into the policing intervention and demonstrate the outcomes achieved.
4.
Clearly and concisely communicate the impact that the policing intervention achieved internally and externally.
5.
Assess the implications of the evaluation for future problem solving and propose new solutions.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Measure impact of your policing role and identify policy and practice change that can be developed elsewhere with the force
Interpret the outcomes of a policing operation from a strategic intelligence perspective, and implications for future practice.
Additional Information:
Lectures will provide the students with information and theories. Students will utilise their learning about evidence-based policing to evaluate and communicate the learning from their policing operations. Students will evaluate the evidence they have collated and produce an evaluation report and present the lessons learned and benefits. Students will also explore their communication skills by identifying the most appropriate way to communicate the outcomes to their community and internally to their force.

This module outline must be read in conjunction with the module appendix and mapping spreadsheet, which details the National Policing Curriculum (NPC) content areas, learning outcomes and minimum content relating to each of the module learning outcomes, which can be found on the Module Key Information tab on Canvas.
