Aims
The aim of this module is to consider cultural theory, contemporary critical discourses regarding the performing arts and public policy in the arts and apply that understanding to case studies and place the students’ own practice into an appropriate perspective in preparation for work.
Learning Outcomes

Evaluate a range of cultural, critical and political concepts.

Synthesise a range of ideas into a coherent argument for particular arts practices.
3.
Present reasoned arguments for arts practice in a complex and sophisticated published (public) form.
4.
Orally defend a developed position with reference to appropriate evidence.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module will consider cultural theory and contemporary discourses in performing arts criticism and go on to examine a wide range of art business case studies to identify theoretical concepts in practice. The module will revisit and develop business skills encountered throughout the programme and apply them to the start-up concepts developed at Level 5 / Year 2. The module will focus on the professional graduation portfolio for each student.
