Aims

To enable students to understand, appraise and analyse the complexities of designing and refurbishing buildings by exploring a project’s objectives and aspirations from the client’s perspective. To gain a strategic appreciation of how to manage files and documents within the construction and Common Data Environment Setting (BIM360).

Learning Outcomes

Critically review methods, theories and techniques of design management, in the context of building design and refurbishment

Critically evaluate the strategic direction of clients in order to develop and propose innovative and creative design proposals and projects
3.
Utilise and apply industry standard software including BIM technologies in order to optimise the design process

Outline Syllabus:Emergence and application of BIM BIM protocols and standards for construction projects Common Data Environment File and document management Collaboration on the design process using BIM 360 Building design and refurbishment from a value management perspective Corporate strategy Green Building Studio and energy analysis
