Aims

This module aims to introduce students to the principles of investment and develop their knowledge and understanding of real estate as an investment vehicle within the market-place and to evaluate its performance against other investment options. It also provides the opportunity to identify and analyse relevant market data and develop skills needed to advise on real estate investment decisions

Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate real estate as an investment vehicle compared to other investment options and considering different markets

Identify and evaluate principles and concepts of real estate finance.
3.
Analyse the key stages of the real estate investment appraisal process, interpret appraisal techniques and utilise appropriate software to appraise real estate investment portfolios.
4.
Analyse and critically evaluate quantitative measures of real estate investment risk and return, handling different types of real estate data and through the application of appropriate software.

The module explores the role of real estate as an investment vehicle within the wider investment spectrum. Students will develop their knowledge of, and apply, quantitative techniques used in the pricing of financial assets and measuring risk and return.
