Aims
To provide practical and theoretical experience in anthropological techniques.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Identify anatomical components of the musculoskeletal system and understand their functions, important relationships, and biological profile indicators.
2.
Demonstrate proficiency in the professional tasks required of a forensic anthropologist, including forensic examination of skeletal remains and production of a case report acceptable for use within the UK Criminal Justice System
3.
Critically evaluate pertinent anthropological and forensic literature, with a focus towards understanding current topics and controversies
4.
Present a comprehensive review of specified topics/controversies for the purpose of academic discussion and debate.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Forensic Anthropology; adult and juvenile skeletal anatomy; dental anthropology; identification of the deceased; emerging topics including Disaster Victim Identification (DVI), burnt and dismembered remains, juvenile trauma
